It is all or nothing for Tottenham Hotspur as they cross swords with Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final.
Spurs are 17th in the Premier League with a staggering 21 losses from 37 matches after a dismal domestic campaign. Pressure on Ange Postecoglou has significantly ramped up in recent months and he could be sacked by Daniel Levy at the end of the season.
However, the Australian tactician can make it all worth it in the Europa League final against Manchester United. He needs to make sure that his side comes out victories in Bilbao, as coming so far and losing in the final is not an option. Ange Postecoglou, though, has a few injury problems to contend with heading into the big European finale.
The likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall are all set to miss the showpiece event due to injuries. This leaves Postecoglou with selection headache in midfield; whether he brings on Pape Matar Sarr as an extra body in the engine room or opts for a more attacking approach by using Wilson Odobert in the No.10 role remains to be seen.
Another player who will not participate in this fixture is Radu Dragusin. The defender underwent surgery on an ACL injury earlier in the year. There is still no specific timeframe on when the Romanian international might return, though the rough estimate would be at least six months from when he suffered the setback in February.
Radu Dragusin will hope to return to the Tottenham side with Champions League football to play, and ahead of final he sent a strong message of support to his teammates and passionate fans. The 23-year-old uploaded a picture of his in Instagram, with the caption:
“It’s been a tough season, but we’ve fought together and earned our spot in the final. I’m proud of this team. It’s hard to miss a night like this, but football teaches resilience. I’m with the boys every step. Let’s go finish the job. COYS”
Dragusin would have loved to be a part of the squad that is set to face Man United. He suffered a serious knee injury during February’s Europa League victory over Elfsborg at home, ruling him out for the rest of the season. Although the central defender has started his rehab on the pitch, he remains a long way away from being fit to play again.
The hulky Romanian will be hoping that his teammates can get over the line and deliver Ange Postecoglou’s promise to “always win things in his second season”.
