Manchester United’s goalkeeping department is preparing for a reshuffle this summer as the club negotiates the summer transfer window.
Senne Lammens appears to have secured the number one spot at Old Trafford after several impressive displays last season in the Premier League.
Below him, though, confusion remains. Altay Bayindir had been United’s second choice ‘keeper in the large majority of last season whilst both Andre Onana and Radek Vitek were out on loan at Trabzonspor and Bristol City respectively.
Both goalkeepers have since returned to Manchester United although Onana appears close to a return to Trabzonspor this summer already.
For Vitek, the situation is deeper. The Red Devils want at least £10 million for the shot-stopper and a flurry of interest has emerged from Premier League sides including Hull City and Coventry City.
Now, Sky Sports report that Rangers have joined the race for the goalkeeper with the Scottish club considering a move for him in this summer’s transfer window.
Radek Vitek is not the only option that Rangers are considering, though, with Sky Sports also revealing that the club are in talks with Ivor Pandur and are interested in Sebastiano Desplanches and Piece Charles.
Rangers’ goalkeeping unit is changing, and these latest reports only further indicate that. A third place finish in last season’s Premiership has sparked an internal review ahead of the summer transfer.
Vitek started for Bristol City last season, winning the Player of the Year award whilst keeping 12 clean sheets in 41 Championship appearances.
Whether Rangers will move for the goalkeeper will possibly depend on how talks with Ivor Pandur progress although, if the Scottish club enter negotiations, it is likely that Manchester United will want at least £10 million.
For now, the goalkeeper must wait as clubs ponder over moves that dictate his future.
