Lionel Messi slid a precise through ball to Andres Iniesta, who pulled Barca in front in the 15th minute. Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the match five minutes later.

Just before half, Messi would gain Barca's lead by gliding past Ronaldo and chipping the ball over a diving Iker Casillas.

Though Karim Benzema would even the contest 2-2 in the 82nd minute, Messi would pop up again with an 88th-minute strike that sent Camp Nou into frenzied celebrations.

Barcelona won 5-4 on aggregate.

This El Clásico encounter featured legends all over the pitch. Real Madrid boasted a star-studded lineup that included Brazilian Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Raul and Roberto Carlos, while Barcelona featured Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta, Carles Puyol and Samuel Eto'o in their starting XI.

Zidane scored the match's opening goal in the seventh minute with a diving header. Beckham's free kick found an unmarked Ronaldo, who extended Los Blancos' lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute.

Eto'o would slice Real's lead in half in the 28th minute before Raul would regain a two-goal lead just before halftime.

Beckham would deliver a brilliant long ball to spring Michael Owen, who scored a fourth goal that put the match out of reach for Barca. Though Ronaldinho would score a jaw-dropping 73rd-minute free kick that left Casillas frozen, the day belonged to Los Galácticos.

But La Liga would belong to the Blaugranas as Barca won the Spanish top flight by four points.
