The Celtic winger has been courted since January this year and many believed that it was partly this interest in his services which ultimately led to his lacklustre performances towards the end of last season.
Brendan Rodgers all but confirmed this recently to the mainstream media, when news of Kühn’s potential move to Como became common knowledge.
Rodgers said of the attacker: “We’ve virtually agreed between the club and Como so it looks at this point that he’ll be on his way, but we just have to wait for confirmation. I think it’s very clear, the model of Celtic. He’s come in and in the 18 months he’s done absolutely fantastic for us. He was aware of interest towards the end of last season and that sort of followed through,” he said, as reported by Scottish Sun.
The final details of the transfer are set to be ironed out completely this week and pending a successful medical, Nicolas should complete his much desired move to the Serie A club. Reports have intimated that Celtic should receive around €20 million, which equates to a cool £17.2 million for a player they snapped up for just £3 million 18-months ago – representing tremendous business for the Hoops.
Now Laola1 outlet has revealed that the sell-on which was included in the deal which took Kühn from the Austrian Bundesliga to the Scottish Premiership, will see Rapid Vienna earn around another €1.6 million (again equating to around the £1.4 million mark), making it fantastic work all round it seems when it comes to the aforementioned wideman.
It’s been clear as day that Nicolas lost interest in everything when Celtic crashed out of the Champions League and whilst Rodgers didn’t outright name and shame the player, reading between the lines it’s obvious he wanted to move on from this situation as quickly as possible, to the benefit of everyone.
The money should now be used with the other vast amounts we have amassed to procure more quality for another crack at Europe, whilst maintaining our grip domestically.
All eyes will be on the men upstairs at Celtic Park…
