Rasmus Hojlund suffered a miserable spell at Old Trafford.
Arriving for £72 million from Atalanta in August 2023, he netted just 26 times in 95 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions.
This amounts to a goal every 3.7 games.
United went out and signed three forwards in. Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko this summer, a window that saw the club spend over £200 million.
This signalled the end of Hojlund’s time at the club, earning a loan move for Serie A champions Napoli in September.
So far, it has been a resounding success for the Danish striker in Naples, with six goals and two assists in 15 games across all competitions.
Arguably the highlight so far of his Napoli career came yesterday, as he netted two goals in their 2-1 win against Juventus to keep them top of the Serie A table.
His performances have led to many wondering where he will play past this current season.
Speaking with DAZN, Hojlund gave a big indication as to where he will play next season whilst also discussing his time in Italy so far.
“Sometimes as a striker you don’t score and I try to help the team in different sorts of ways.
“I know how important it is for the manager that I’m able to hold up the ball, to put the game a little bit higher.
“It’s also important for me to work hard on the pressing and keep the team compact.
“I scored two goals tonight, but it’s all down to my teammates, the manager and his staff.
‘Next season, I’ll give my interviews in Italian,”.
Napoli have the option to sign Hojlund for a permanent £35 million transfer provided they meet the clause requirements based around his loan, which includes UEFA Champions League qualification.
If Hojlund continues his form so far, then Napoli may have no choice other than to snap him up.
After all, this a league he feels familiar in after scoring nine goals in during Atalanta’s 2022/23 season.
