Rasmus Hojlund ended his first season at Manchester United with 16 goals in all competitions – a respectable tally, especially considering the troubles of his first four months in the Premier League.

The Danish international has capped off his first campaign at Old Trafford with a trophy after the Reds sent Manchester City packing in the FA Cup final earlier this weekend.

Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo ensured back-to-back seasons with silverware for Erik ten Hag’s men and after the game, Hojlund sent a cheeky dig aimed at United’s cross-city rivals.

“Since Manchester is Red, this is the new wonderwall,” Hojlund captioned a photo as he posed alongside Amad Diallo, Garnacho and Mainoo behind the FA Cup trophy.

The line is in reference to Oasis’ hit song Wonderwall, with the band made up of Manchester City fans Liam and Noel Gallagher.

Hojlund will be aiming to do even better next season and break the 20-goal mark as he continues to adapt to a new league and team.

For large parts of the season, he has been dealt a poor hand but has made the best of that. Next season could be his breakthrough year.
