Yan Diomande has emerged over the last few months as a strong contender to reinforce Manchester United’s left wing.

The 19-year-old has become one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe during his debut season with RB Leipzig.

In 32 games, Diomande has scored 13 goals and grabbed eight assists, including a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in their 6-0 win in December.

As such, the Ivory Coast international has been Leipzig’s second-highest goalscorer and goal contributor behind Christoph Baumgartner.

It’s this consistent attacking threat, and his ability to create opportunities, that is seeing Leipzig want to keep their star as well as other clubs want to sign him.

Manchester United have been linked with the winger for some time while Liverpool are seeing him as a strong replacement for Mohamed Salah who is set to leave this summer.

So, in a bid to ward off interested parties, RB Leipzig are not only looking at improving his contract, but also slapping a massive price tag on him.

How RB Leipzig are hoping to retain Yan Diomande

The Bundesliga club want upwards of £87 million (€100 million) for Yan Diomande, according to Philippe Hinze and Florian Plettenberg.

The pair have explained that Leipzig are also looking at making an adjustment to his contract, handing him a salary increase in a bid to keep him until 2027.

However, even if Diomande and Leipzig part ways, his move last summer has been another excellent piece of transfer business by the German giants.

Having bought the winger for £17.5 million (€20 million), his value will have quintupled in a year, seeing the club make a massive profit on him.
