Enzo Maresca has just taken his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game against Manchester United at the weekend, and one of the key questions was about Alejandro Garnacho.

The winger joined Chelsea from tomorrow’s opposition on deadline day, and has so far made two appearances off the bench. According to the gaffer, the Argentina international is now ready to play a full 90, or at least start a game.

Maresca praises Garnacho contribution

Maresca also praised the winger’s contributions as a sub against Brentford and Bayern Munich:

“In the last two games, he was very good when he came on,” the manager said.

“So we are happy with the way he has adapted to our style and what we want from the winger. I think he is ready to start.”

With fellow summer signing Jamie Gittens struggling in his starts for the Blues so far, we speculated yesterday that it wouldn’t be long before Garnacho got a turn. It looks like that’s the case.

In terms of the opposition, Maresca warned his players that even a struggling United would be a dangerous prospect at home:

“They have the desire to win this game after when you struggle, there is a desire to win the next game. Against Chelsea, at home, in front of their fans – they are all reasons why this game is important.”

Garnacho ready to return and haunt Man U

Garnacho facing his old club would be juicy – their fans didn’t like his conduct at all, and things got pretty toxic in the end. But he looks like a player who always thrives on a little controversy, and we can definitely see him starting, scoring, and trolling the Old Trafford faithful with a celebration.

That would be just so Premier League, wouldn’t it?
