Real Madrid and Barcelona could join Tottenham in the transfer race to sign Bayern Munich star Harry Kane

It is fair to say that both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke have found it difficult to fill the void left behind by Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs’ all-time record goalscorer left North London to move to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, but is now being heavily linked with a return. The England international has scored a truckload of goals for Bayern Munich and also won the Bundesliga title last term. He has netted 98 goals in 103 games for the Bavarian giants thus far, but his return to Tottenham is now growing ever closer.

Harry Kane is a Tottenham legend and is hugely respected in the white half of north London. The centre-forward could leave Bayern Munich due to a £56.7m release clause in his contract which kicks in at the end of the season should Kane confirm that he wants to leave. The German champions fear that the 32-year-old’s third season at the Allianz Arena could be his last, with Spurs now viewing themselves as frontrunners for his signature as Kane has close ties with the Lewis family.

Tottenham would not have a free run at Harry Kane

Thomas Frank has fuelled speculation by stating that he would love to have Kane back at the club. However, the Tottenham gaffer does not believe that the English star will make the switch anytime soon, given the fact that he is enjoying his adventure in Bayern.

Spurs, on their part, are aware of the 32-year-old’s clause and would be very much willing to offer him a return to the club, although they know that they’d face competition from several clubs across the continent.

According to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, both Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona have a firm interest in Kane and could be in the mix for his signature next summer, if he decides to leave Bayern. Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is a huge fan of the former Spurs talisman and would love to bring him to Old Trafford, while Chelsea have been linked with an interest.

“Both Real and Barca have huge respect for Harry Kane. They love the way he holds himself, the way he comes across; he is the consummate professional,” Graeme Bailey explained Kane’s current situation.

“Florentino Perez and Joan Laporta would both love to land him, and at 32, he still has a few very good years left in him.

“Clearly, should Kane move, a return to England would be appealing given the all-time Premier League goalscorer record is within his sights, which could be a huge lure for him.”

Alan Shearer’s Premier League record in sight

Thomas Frank has made an excellent start to life at Tottenham, winning five of his opening seven games in all competitions. He oversaw the team’s progress to the Carabao Cup fourth round following a 3-0 success over League One side Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday.

The Hotspur Way chiefs will want to back the Dane in the transfer market after the impact he’s made at the club, and Frank potentially opening doors for Kane’s return should bode well. Both Frank and Spurs have made their intentions clear regarding the Bayern star. Kane is just 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record, which should be enough of an incentive for him to return to the Lilywhites in 2026. However, the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Man United will do everything possible to complicate Tottenham’s move for Kane.
