Another Liverpool player could be on Real Madrid’s radar next summer, according to the latest transfer updates.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit from Merseyside hit hard, and the backlash over how both sides managed the move has not died down.
While Alexander-Arnold tried to walk away for nothing when his contract expired, Liverpool did manage to secure a £10 million fee before he left.
With that situation behind them, Arne Slot has worked on reinforcing the squad. Jeremie Frimpong has come in to challenge Conor Bradley for the right-back role.
And although they did not manage to land Marc Guehi before the window closed, 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni was brought in as a promising option for the future of their back line.
Ibrahima Konate looked to be fully fit after starting for France in their World Cup qualifiers, despite some concerns following the Arsenal match when he struggled with cramp.
His contract is up next year, and Real Madrid have shown interest in the £40 million defender, adding another layer to his future at Anfield.
According to Lewis Steele, Konate has not informed Liverpool of any intention to leave, nor has he made a final decision about moving to Spain.

Liverpool fans holding out hope that Michael Edwards can negotiate a new deal for Konate might be unsettled by growing confidence from the Spanish side.
Steele also noted in his Daily Mail report that Real believe they can bring him in next summer, even though he is still undecided about making the move.
On the other hand, Liverpool definitely will be keen to avoid a repeat of the Alexander-Arnold situation.
Signs are looking more promising for Liverpool’s chances of keeping the No. 5, especially with reports suggesting Real Madrid may be turning their attention elsewhere.
Spanish outlet Fichajes has linked Spurs defender Micky van de Ven to a move to Santiago Bernabeu, despite ongoing interest in Konate.

The Dutchman has shown promise at Tottenham, but with the club finishing 17th last season, it is still unclear how much he can offer. Working under Thomas Frank might give him a better platform to prove himself this year.
It would take a much higher fee than what Madrid would need to pay for Konate. The London-based club will not let him go for less than £70 million.
Michael Edwards will need to move quickly to get an extension done, but Real targeting Van de Ven could be just the opening he needs to bring Konate back into talks and settle his future at Anfield.
