Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing a shock move for the Manchester United duo, Raphael Varane, and Casemiro, this summer. Both the players could make a bold return to Los Blancos, just a few years after moving to the Premier League.

Manchester United might seek to offload a few players in the upcoming summer transfer window, a decision that is being taken by the club’s new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. This is aimed at funding potential new signings and reducing the club’s substantial wage bill. Varane and Casemiro, who are both among the club’s highest earners, have been reportedly put up for sale.

Spanish media outlets reported that the Los Blancos are interested in bringing two players back to the club, due to the considerable amount of experience they possess. Both Varane and Casemiro spent a decade in the Spanish capital, playing 360 and 336 matches, respectively. They contributed significantly to Madrid’s four UCL victories between 2014 and 2018. However, they might face competition from Saudi Arabian clubs for the duo’s signatures.

Varane and Casemiro’s decline in performance has prompted speculation about their potential departure from Manchester United. Other than these two, a few other first-team stars could be sold ahead of the 2024-25 season, including Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Antony and Anthony Martial.

Manchester United targeting a shock move for Luton Town midfielder Ross Barkley

Manchester United’s new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team have expressed their interest in signing Luton Town midfielder Ross Barkley, on a bargain deal. The 30-year-old midfielder would be a possible replacement for Casemiro, who might be on his way out of the club in the summer of 2024.

Ross Barkley gained prominence during his time at Everton from 2013 to 2018 before moving to Chelsea for £15 million. His stint at Stamford Bridge was lackluster, featuring only 100 appearances across five seasons. However, Barkley experienced a revival this season upon joining Luton Town on a free transfer, playing a vital role in their midfield across 20 Premier League matches.

There’s speculation of a potential move to Manchester United at a discounted rate, fueled by Jim Ratcliffe’s admiration for Barkley, stemming from their time together at OGC Nice, a club owned by Ratcliffe, contingent upon departures of Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat.
