Real Madrid have been linked to Lille defender Leny Yoro for several months, and the player himself is reportedly delighted by the idea of heading to the Santiago Bernabeu, but reports in the Spanish capital say his arrival is unlikely.

Yoro, 18, has astounded fans in Ligue 1 with his attributes and cool head at such a young age, and Los Blancos have been tracking him for some time. His contract is up in 2025, and with no sign of an extension, Lille are believed to be demanding around €60m for one of the brightest promises in football.

It is not clear whether they will get that amount, but Paris Saint-Germain, who are also interested, had an offer for Yoro turned down in January. It has always been said that Real Madrid were not keen to overpay for Yoro, and based on Cadena SER’s information (via Diario AS), that asking price looks unlikely to come down far enough. They say his arrival is unlikely this summer, and that Rafa Marin will be part of the Real Madrid squad next season instead.

Yoro in theory wants to leave Lille this summer, feeling he is ready for the next step, but if the 18-year-old were to see out his contract, then Real Madrid would likely become the favourites for his signature. Real Madrid’s transfer strategy has shown in recent years that they are keen not to overspend on players who are running down their contract.
