French President Emmanuel Macron failed to convince Real Madrid club chief Florentino Perez to release Kylian Mbappé for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Perez attended a gathering at the Elysée Palace on Tuesday with Macron to celebrate FIFA’s 120th anniversary. As a result, it was reported that the two would talk over the 25-year-old potentially playing in the Olympics.

Despite any dialogue the two gentlemen might have had, it wasn’t enough to allow the soon-to-be former Paris Saint-Germain star to play the summer games in his hometown.

According to ‘El Partidazo’ on Cadena COPE (h/t SPORT), sources within Real Madrid are convinced that Kylian Mbappé will not be participating in the Olympics. With no Olympics on the agenda this summer, they expect him to join the team’s preseason training in August under coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The club is firm that there will be no special treatment for Mbappé. He won’t be allowed to participate in both UEFA Euro 2024 and the Olympics, as these events are meant for younger players. All this means that the forward will miss out on winning a gold medal in his hometown.
