Real Madrid's team bus was involved in a road traffic accident ahead of this week's UEFA Champions League game against RB Leipzig.

The squad flew from Madrid to Erfurt on Monday morning before boarding their heavily-branded bus to travel to a hotel near Leipzig's Red Bull Arena.

During this short road trip, a collision occurred between the bus and a white Toyota Avensis, according to Bild.

It is said that the Avensis crashed into the bus.

No injuries were sustained but the car reportedly suffered damage worth more than $3,000, including a broken wing mirror, while the Madrid bus was heavily scratched.

MARCA later published a statement obtained from Real Madrid.

It read: "A fan who, because he was filming the bus in his car, got lost.

"The steering wheel went and it bounced. We didn't notice. The people who came in buses behind us saw it."

Madrid will go into Tuesday's round of 16 first leg against Leipzig as favorites, despite missing several senior stars due to injuries - none of which are related to Monday's traffic incident.

Jude Bellingham will miss the match with a sprained ankle, while Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and David Alaba are also unavailable.

Madrid qualified for the round of 16 by winning all six of their group games.

Meanwhile, Leipzig came second in Group G, despite losing home and away against Manchester City. The other teams in Leipzig's group were Young Boys and Red Star Belgrade.
