Toni Kroos said goodbye to the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, as he played his last home match as a Real Madrid player before retiring from football this summer. He may have not been the only veteran making his final bow for Los Blancos, although it’s not clear at this stage whether or not Nacho Fernandez will be departing.

A few weeks ago, it seemed nailed-on that Nacho would not sign a new contract, thus ensuring that his 23-year association with Real Madrid comes to an end. However, he has begun to doubt leaving over the last few weeks – at this stage, no one knows what will happen.

As per Diario AS, Nacho intends to finalise his decision after the Champions League final, where he will have the chance to lift his third trophy as Real Madrid captain. He is expected to play ahead of Eder Militao at Wembley, and it’s this prominence that is leading his closer to renewing for another 12 months.

If Nacho does go, he will not have had the chance to say a proper goodbye to the Bernabeu faithful – although if he can lead Real Madrid to a 15th European title, it would certainly be a fitting ending.
