Real Madrid return to the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday night after a disappointing result against Barcelona, a result that confirmed they will finish the 2025-26 season without a major trophy.

Madrid’s opponents, Real Oviedo, have already been relegated to the Segunda División after a difficult season back in La Liga. The Asturian club sits at the bottom of the table and arrives in Madrid with little left to play for apart from pride in the final weeks of the campaign.

Real Madrid are expected to make a few changes after the defeat to Barcelona, although Kylian Mbappé has returned to the squad could start alongside Vinícius Júnior in attack.

Thibaut Courtois should keep his place in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Raúl Asencio, Antonio Rüdiger and Fran García expected across the back line.

Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga are likely to feature in midfield, while Franco Mastantuono and Brahim Díaz are both options further forward.

Dani Ceballos, Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy and Éder Militão remain unavailable, while Dean Huijsen is also expected to miss out.

Oviedo are expected to continue with Aarón Escandell in goal behind a defense led by David Costas and Dani Calvo.

Santiago Colombatto and Nicolás Fonseca should start in midfield, while Thiago Fernández, Alberto Reina and Ilyas Chaira are expected to support Federico Viñas in attack for the already-relegated visitors.
