Konaté’s contract with Liverpool runs out at the end of next season, and according to Defensa Central, the French center-back has so far turned down an extension.

The report claims that Real Madrid are willing to wait until next summer to sign Konaté on a free transfer. That stance has reportedly frustrated Liverpool, who feel they’ve reached their breaking point with the situation.

Liverpool are reportedly growing concerned about the future of Ibrahima Konaté, with Marca claiming the defender could leave as a free agent when his contract runs out in 2026. There’s a sense that he may be heading down a similar road to Trent Alexander-Arnold before his expected move to Real Madrid.

According to The Times’ Hamzah Khalique-Loonat, Konaté’s agent surprised Liverpool’s ownership group, FSG, by demanding a 150 percent pay raise—pushing his weekly wage to £200,000. That figure would make him the club’s third-highest earner, trailing only Mohamed Salah (£350,000) and Virgil van Dijk (£220,000).
