French President Emmanuel Macron was unsuccessful in persuading Real Madrid club chief Florentino Perez to allow Kylian Mbappé to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Perez joined Macron at the Elysée Palace on Tuesday for FIFA’s 120th anniversary celebration. Reports emerged suggesting that during the event, the two discussed the possibility of the 25-year-old participating in the Olympics.

Despite the two gentlemen may have conversed, their discussion didn’t sway the decision to let the soon-to-be former Paris Saint-Germain star participate in the summer games in his hometown.

According to a recent report, Real Madrid are convinced that Kylian Mbappé will not be participating in the Olympics. Moreover, L’Equipe reports that Perez does not intend to give in to Macron’s request to allow the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to participate.

The Spanish team have no plans to let their incoming standout compete in the Olympics, especially considering the French president’s involvement in blocking Mbappé’s transfer to Madrid in 2022.

Real Madrid are standing firm on its decision: Mbappé won’t receive any special treatment, meaning he won’t be allowed to play in both UEFA Euro 2024 and the Olympics.
