Real Sociedad confirm David Silva signing

On the same day that David Silva tweeted his farewell to Manchester City supporters, La Liga outfit Real Sociedad confirmed the signing of the 34-year-old midfielder via a free transfer.

Silva is signed through the end of the 2021-22 season.

Silva joined City in the summer of 2010 and, as noted by ESPN, he won 11 major trophies and four Premier League titles while with the club. The former Spanish international named Manchester City 2016-17 Player of the Season will be honored with a statue placed outside of City's Etihad Stadium that will be unveiled in 2021.

Silva was previously linked with Lazio of the Italian Serie A:

Instead, however, he chose the club that finished the 2019-20 campaign sixth in the La Liga table.
