Referee Szymon Marciniak Makes Series Of Mistakes In Inter Milan 4-3 Barcelona Victory

Szymon Marciniak was well below his high standard in last night’s intense clash between Inter Milan and Barcelona in the Champions League.

Per Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Polish referee made a series of mistakes throughout the game.

Furthermore, Marciniak’s controversial decision would’ve put Inter in harm’s way had it not been for VAR.

Luckily, technology spotted what one of Europe’s most highly-rated officials couldn’t.

Otherwise, Simone Inzaghi could have seen their heroic efforts undone by the 44-year-old’s blunders.

Marciniak refused to point to the spot when Pau Cubarsi brought Lautaro Martinez down inside the box.

Indeed, he changed his decision only after consulting with the side-pitch monitor.

However, he didn’t hesitate much to give Barcelona a penalty that didn’t exist at 2-2.

VAR had to correct him again, forcing him to award a free-kick to Los Blaugranas.

Then, there was an incident involving Inigo Martinez and Francesco Acerbi.

For some reason, Marciniak stayed silent when he should have cautioned the Spaniard.
