Reo Hatate showed his class yet again on Sunday at Pittodrie and I firmly believe that Celtic would have been treble winners if he hadn’t missed the Scottish Cup final…

With all the speculation of who is arriving or who is not should I say, there is one man who is already here who deserves all our gratitude and attention, and that man is Reo Hatate.

Reo once again showed his value to the team by scoring an absolute sublime goal in the 2-0 win at Pittodrie on Sunday, as we maintained our one hundred percent start to the campaign.

Perhaps Reo didn’t have the best of matches, but like all good players he just needed that one moment of magic to have a big say in the outcome of the game, and not for the first time in his Celtic career.

Reo is a supremely talented footballer and adds so much to Brendan’s Celtic side with his ability and vision in the middle of the park. He’s a gem of a player and we are so lucky to have him to call upon.

I’d even go as far as to say that if Reo hadn’t missed the Scottish Cup final showdown with Aberdeen back in May, then we would have been celebrating a treble. He’s that important to the side.

That’s not an audacious claim, far from it. We were missing so much creativity and fluency that day, and Reo’s absence was a major factor in that. It’s ironic that he picked up the injury in post split fixture at Pittodrie, well after the league had been won. Reo came off the bench in the closing stages and the tackle that ruled him out of Hampden came shortly after that. It was disgraceful and we said that at the time.

You can bet that Brendan Rodgers regretted his decision to take the chance with Reo that night with Celtic already 5-1 ahead.
