Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly enquired about the Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo.
According to a report from the NY Times, the 25-year-old will cost around £65 million this summer, and Tottenham believe that he will be too expensive. Tottenham are yet to follow up on their enquiry with any official offer.
It will be interesting to see if they are prepared to break the bank for the Ghanaian International. He has been outstanding for Bournemouth, and he has been labelled as a “top talent” by former Premier League star Michael Owen.
The 25-year-old is still quite young, and he could improve with coaching and experience. He could be the ideal acquisition for Tottenham. They are in desperate need of a dynamic attacker who can slot anywhere across the front three and score goals and create opportunities for his teammates.
He could be the ideal long-term replacement for South Korean international Son Heung-min. Son has been linked with an exit from Tottenham in recent weeks, and the 32-year-old might need replacing soon.
The report further claims that Semenyo is attracted towards a potential move to Tottenham. He will certainly hope that the two clubs can work out an agreement this summer.
Moving to Tottenham will be an excellent step up for him, and he will get to fight for trophies. He would get to compete in the UEFA Champions League with the North London club as well. Regular football at a high level could bring out the best in him and help him improve further.
It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks. Tottenham need to improve multiple areas of their squad, and spending £65 million on the African could prove to be difficult for them.
