Barcelona have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries this summer.
This according to Spanish outlet FCInterNews. They note that the Dutchman was offered to the Blaugranas and has a release clause, but is not a priority target as FFP restricts the Catalan giants’ spending.
Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries has a €25 million release clause in his contract.
Moreover, the 29-year-old recently switched agents. He came under the representation of Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes.
That has naturally led to plenty of transfer rumours regarding Dumfries’s future.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona have held several rounds of talks with Mendes.
And in all of these transfer summits, the agent has offered a deal for Dumfries.
And the €25 million release clause means that a deal for the Dutchman wouldn’t be that difficult.
However, reports Sport, Barcelona do not consider right-back to be a priority area.
Moreover, Financial Fair Play means that the Blaugranas have to be very careful about their spending this summer. Even in terms of bargain deals for players like Dumfries.
Therefore, Barcelona have not triggered the former PSV wingback’s release clause.
Now, Dumfries’s release clause at Inter expires at the end of today. Therefore, Barcelona are not going to trigger it.
