Barcelona are reportedly mulling over a bid for Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries after an offer from agent Jorge Mendes.

This according to Spniash outlet Jorge Mendes, via FCInterNews.

The future of Denzel Dumfries has come up for some speculation in recent days.

Reportedly, the 29-year-old was not a fan of the harsh words from Inter captain Lautaro Martinez after Monday’s Club World Cup exit against Fluminense.

Therefore, Martinez may have inadvertently pushed his teammate out the exit door. He did, after all, implore “whoever wants to leave, leave.”

Barcelona Mulling Over Denzel Dumfries Bid After Mendes Offer

A couple of key factors could also make a Dumfries exit more likely.

Firstly, there is the fact that the former PSV wingback just changed agents. He joined the stable of Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes.

Then, there is the fact that Dumfries has a €25 million release clause at Inter. He only just signed an extension with the Nerazzurri, which included this clause.

And according to Sport, Jorge Mendes has offered Dumfries to Barcelona.

The Portuguese agent has made clear that a move for the Dutchman would be straightforward considering the release clause.

Moreover, Sport report, Mendes has told Barcelona that even if they do not trigger the release clause by the time it expires on the 15th of this month, they could realistically sign him for a fee of around €25 million anyway.

And according to Sport, Barcelona are thinking about it.

The Blaugranas certainly saw how effective Dumfries can be firsthand in the Champions League. He was arguably Inter’s outstanding performer in the tie as they knocked Barcelona out in the semifinals.

Furthermore, Sport report, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick wants to bring a fast, athletic right-back to the club. That is certainly a profile that Dumfries would fit to a tee.
