The Newcastle United push was too late to change anything, as Leeds United have now reportedly agreed terms with both Jaka Bijol and Udinese.

The defender had been on the Leeds radar for a while and gave the all-clear to join them following promotion to the Premier League.

There were reports today that Newcastle United had pushed their way into the negotiations, especially after Leeds had an opening offer of €15m rejected.

Bijol deal struck after raised offer

Now Fabrizio Romano insists that Leeds United raised their proposal to €22m including add-ons, which has been accepted by Udinese.

It remains to be seen how much of that fee is a fixed sum, and how much is down to performance-related bonuses.

The 26-year-old was given an asking price of no lower than €20m, so this seems to be enough to convince Udinese into accepting the move.

Bijol was purchased from CSKA Moscow in 2022 for €4m and is a regular in the Slovenia international squad.
