Newly promoted Burnley will be looking to add to their squad so they can compete and stay in the Premier League with Vincent Kompany in charge in the top flight for the first time.

One of the many players that Burnley are looking at is reportedly Manchester City full-back Sergio Gomez who didn't have a fantastic first season even though City went onto win the treble.

The 22-year-old joined from Belgium side Anderlecht and he only played 23 games throughout the campaign with a majority of them being substitute appearances.

When he was given the chance to start though he didn't particularly impress with the red card after half an hour against FC Copenhagen emphasising that.

However at just 22-years-old it is clear to see Gomez has potential hence why Kompany is interested in him.

Burnley would like to take him on loan from Manchester City but Gomez does not intend on leaving the club at this current moment in time as he wants to try and impress Guardiola in pre-season.

Guardiola changed his system mid-season so that he would not need a left-back so even if Gomez does impress he would have to rely on his manager playing an orthodox back four again.

Gomez can also play in midfield which will also entice Burnley.
