Since arriving on loan from Italian giants Juventus, Denis Zakaria has seen sporadic playing time under Graham Potter. There is a decision to be made this summer regarding his future by Chelsea and reports are emerging that this decision has already been made.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the Swiss midfielder is likely to depart from Stamford Bridge this summer at the conclusion of his loan deal.

There is an option to purchase the midfielder that was a part of the loan deal but Plettenberg claims this is unlikely to be exercised. This is hardly a problem, seeing as Zakaria was likely brought in with previous manager Thomas Tuchel in mind, not Graham Potter.

There is still a good chunk of the season left for the midfielder to attempt to win over those at Stamford Bridge if he wants to continue at the club, but this is a tall task.

Chelsea are in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer as they look to continue their extensive revamp of the first-team squad. It is unclear who the main target for this will be, but it appears Zakaria will not be one.
