Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu is still deciding on his midfield for next week’s Serie A opening day match against Torino.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that the coach is working around the suspension of Hakan Calhanoglu and questionable fitness of Davide Frattesi.
Inter Milan face Torino in Serie A next Monday. They are officially one week away from the start of their season.
Cristian Chivu will name his first ever Inter starting eleven in Serie A.
There are many doubts for the 44-year-old. He will likely stick with the 3-5-2 shape for now, despite his efforts to switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation.
In midfield, therefore, Chivu will likely go with a trio.
However, one player who definitely won’t be playing at the base of midfield is Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish international is serving a one-match suspension.
Therefore, Petar Sucic could be the player to start in holding midfield.
However, there are lingering doubts as to whether Chivu will trust the 21-year-old with such an important role right away.
Then, it is not yet clear whether Davide Frattesi will be available. He is still trying to regain fitness after abdominal surgery.
