Tottenham Hotspur striker Alejo Veliz is now closing in on a move to Racing Club this summer.
According to a report from MDZ, the Argentina outfit will submit a club record offer of €7 million to sign the 21-year-old, and the report claims that the offer is ‘close to being accepted’.
Veliz will become the record signing in Racing Club’s history. Apart from the €7 million fee, they will offer Tottenham 30% of profits from a future sale.
The 21-year-old attacker was on loan at Espanyol last season, and he does not have a future at Tottenham. It makes sense for him to leave the club permanently. Returning to South America could be ideal for him. He has played in Argentina with Rosario Central in the past. He will look to get his career back on track with regular football in his comfort zone.
The 21-year-old South American striker needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and leaving Tottenham permanently would be ideal for him. He should focus on his development for now. If he manages to fulfil his potential, he will have plenty of opportunities to join a top European club in future.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will look to improve their squad this summer, and they should look to invest in another striker. Dominic Solanke was mediocre last season, and he needs more support in the attack. Signing a quality striker should be one of the priorities.
They finished in the bottom half of the league table last season, and they will look to bounce back strongly. They must address the weaknesses in their squad. Having a reliable goalscorer could take them to a whole new level next season.
