Chelsea youngster Jesse Derry has emerged as a target for Frank Lampard and Coventry City this summer according to reports.
The Blues signed Derry from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2025 having been impressed by his exploits for the Eagles in their youth sides.
Derry scored on his debut for Chelsea’s under-21s, and was handed his first team debut by Liam Rosenior in the 4-0 win against Hull City in the FA Cup earlier this season.
The 18-year-old also appeared from the bench against Wrexham, and has six goals and three assists in 17 Premier League 2 appearances.
Derry has impressed in the Uefa Youth League with five goals in eight appearances, and it’s clear the next step in his development is to go and play more regular first team football.
TalkSPORT have reported Coventry, who are managed by Lampard are eyeing a loan move for Derry in the summer.
Coventry require one point from their final four games to secure promotion, and it seems Lampard is keen to use his connections at Chelsea.
Lampard had success with taking Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori on loan when in charge at Derby, and a similar move for Derry would certainly be beneficial for both parties.
Chelsea are expected to be busy in what is now a crucial summer for the Blues with a number of positions in the squad needing to be addressed.
The Blues are thought to acknowledge they need players with Premier League experience, but whether they get them is another question.
Morgan Rogers, Murillo and Jan Paul van Hecke are all names who’ve been linked, and it’ll be interesting to see who’s signed.
