Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga, currently on loan at Millwall, is poised to make a permanent move to the Championship club this summer.

The English centre-back began his loan spell in South East London in January and has been making a strong impression ever since.

Tanganga has featured in 18 games in the Championship this season, starting in 17 of them while scoring two goals.

It’s no surprise that Millwall is eager to retain the services of the Spurs’ academy graduate at the Den and have agreed the deal with the Lilywhites, as reported by the Mirror.

Tanganga’s current contract with Tottenham is due to expire in June of the following year, prompting the club to seek a destination for the defender this season, a mission they have accomplished.

The 25-year-old’s previous loan spell was largely unsuccessful when he joined the German club Augsburg on a season-long loan last September.

Things did not go as planned, as he did not play a single minute in the Bundesliga this season and returned to North London in January.

Tanganga exhibits versatility as a defender, proficient in both central defensive and right-back roles.

The former England U21 international began his journey with the Spurs academy at just 10 years old, maintaining a lengthy association with the club for fourteen years.

In 2020, he renewed his contract with the Lilywhites, extending his commitment until 2025.

Tanganga’s fortunes have brightened during his spell at Millwall, and all parties involved are likely to be pleased with the permanent transfer.
