Report: Defender has decided to leave Euro giants amid interest from Tottenham

PSG defender Axel Tape has been linked with a move away from the club in the summer, and Tottenham are keen on signing him.

According to Sports Zone, Tottenham rate the 17-year-old highly, and he has decided to leave the French champions this summer. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the deal done.

He could prove to be a quality long-term investment for them. They need to add more depth and quality to their squad, and signing talented young players for the future could prove to be a wise decision. They do not have the resources to spend substantial amounts of money on established superstars. They need to build a squad sustainably, and signing elite young talent would be ideal.

Defender could fancy Premier League move

The opportunity to move to England could be quite exciting for the 17-year-old as well, and Tottenham would be the ideal next step for him.

They could offer him ample opportunities and help him develop further. If he manages to fulfil his potential at the club, he will have plenty of opportunities to join elite clubs in future.

For now, a move to Tottenham could be ideal for all parties.

Axel Tape would be a solid acquisition

He is capable of operating as a central defender as well as a defensive midfielder. Apart from his defensive qualities, he is very composed with the ball at his feet, and his assured distribution will help Spurs build from the back. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to offer him regular opportunities in the first team next season. He is quite young and he might need some time to get the hang of English football.

The player will be a free agent in a few weeks, and signing him on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke in the long run.
