Inter booked their place in the knockouts with a win over River Plate this week. That capped off a group stage campaign in which the Nerazzurri were far from perfect, but grew into it.
There have been a few fitness doubts for Inter going into Monday’s match.
On the one hand, there are several players who will miss the rest of the Club World Cup. Hakan Calhanoglu, Piotr Zielinski, Benjamin Pavard, and Yann Bisseck have all already returned to Italy.
Meanwhile, striker Mehdi Taremi remains stuck in Iran due to Israeli airstrikes.
However, there are a couple pieces of good news for Inter on the fitness front.
Firstly, striker Marcus Thuram will be able to return.
The Frenchman had come off the bench in Inter’s group stage opener against Monterrey. However, a lack of fitness was evident.
Then, Thuram missed subsequent group stage matches against Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate. This was due to a thigh problem.
Meanwhile, midfielder Davide Frattesi was absent for all three group stage matches with a muscle problem of his own.
However, the Gazzetta anticipate, both Thuram and Frattesi will be available against Fluminense.
