Inter Milan have not withdrawn from the race for Parma starlet Giovanni Leoni despite putting talks on hold.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the club executive met the player’s agent yesterday to reiterate their interest.
Despite prioritizing a move for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, Inter are not giving up on the 18-year-old.
However, negotiations with Parma have stalled as the Nerazzurri want to finalize their pursuit of the Nigerian first.
Lookman’s arrival will cost Inter at least €40 million.
After having already spent north of €75m, the Serie A runners-up cannot afford both players.
Yet, they hope to raise funds for Leoni’s signing by offloading several fringe stars.
Furthermore, Giovanni Leoni has already informed Inter of his desire to reunite with Cristian Chivu.
Indeed, the 44-year-old coach launched the youngster’s top-flight career at Ennio Tardini last season.
However, Inter must be aware of the growing interest in the prodigious center-back.
In addition to AC Milan and Juventus, Manchester United and Liverpool are keen on the Parma teenager.
