Inter Milan will move to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson after clearing out a number of fringe players from the squad.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that there are six players in total who could head for the exit door.

Inter Milan have identified Atalanta midfielder Ederson as a major target in midfield.

However, the Nerazzurri will only move for the Brazilian international in the event that Hakan Calhanoglu leaves the club. Reportedly, Galatasaray have now made their first offer for him.

If Inter do sell Calhanoglu, then they will put the fee towards a move for Ederson as a replacement.

However, the Gazzetta note, any fee that Inter do get for the Turkish international will be far from covering the €60 million that Atalanta want for Ederson on its own.

Inter To Move On Fringe Players To Finance Ederson Deal

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, therefore, Inter Milan’s plan would be to bring in transfer fees for some fringe players in the squad.

Midfielders Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani could follow Calhanoglu out the exit door. And they could certainly bring in decent fees, whilst also leaving vacancies in midfield.

Then, a fee for defender Yann Bisseck would certainly be useful in moving for Ederson.

But just as important could be the sales of some players on the fringes of the squad.

The Gazzetta name Aleksandar Stankovic and Sebastiano Esposito as players whose sales could help Inter move for Ederson.
