Inter Milan have reportedly decided to hold off on signing a defender until the January transfer window.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
For months, it has seemed all but inevitable that Inter would sign a defender at some point this summer.
The Nerazzurri are currently relying on aging duo Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi at the heart of their back three.
Meanwhile, there have been transfer links away for the likes of Benjamin Pavard and Yann Bisseck.
Furthermore, Inter have sold wingback Nicola Zalewski to Atalanta this summer. Therefore, this means that Carlos Augusto will be required to play on the flank more.
Accordingly, the versatile Brazilian will not be able to deputize for Alessandro Bastoni in defense as often.
Inter have identified a few targets in defense this summer.
The Nerazzurri had targeted defender Giovanni Leoni before his move from Parma to Liverpool.
Furthermore, Inter had also been eyeing up Koni De Winter prior to his joining AC Milan.
However, Inter have not managed to complete any deals for defenders.
And according to Tuttosport, Inter will not do so before the transfer window closes.
The newspaper report that the Nerazzurri do not believe there are any suitable opportunities.
Therefore, Tuttosport anticipate, Inter will wait until January to reassess their situation.
