Report: Juventus trying to land USMNT's Weston McKennie

Juventus are reportedly looking to add to their midfield unit after losing Blaise Matuidi to Inter Miami CF of Major League Soccer.

According to ESPN's Andrew Cesare Richardson, Juve are reportedly trying to land USMNT star Weston McKennie.

However, McKennie has recently been heavily linked to the Premier League. Southampton and Newcastle United were both looking to sign the 21-year-old, while Chelsea and Liverpool also showed interest earlier in the offseason.

New Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo has reportedly been a key figure in accelerating the process for the USMNT midfielder, Richardson adds.

While no deal has been completed, McKennie would reportedly love to play for Juventus and feels that he could have a real chance at playing solid minutes with the Italian club.

McKennie appeared in 28 matches for Schalke last season in Germany's Bundesliga, tallying three goals.

If McKennie joins Juventus, he'll be signing on in the midst of a total overhaul after Maurizio Sarri was sacked by the club earlier this month. Gonzalo Higuain also is set to leave the club and Cristiano Ronaldo's future with Juve also is uncertain.
