Sky Sport Italia report that Marco Baroni is set to part company with Lazio after just one year in charge, having failed to qualify for Europe.

The tension was becoming clear in recent weeks, with President Claudio Lotito saying he was only ‘moderately’ satisfied with his work.

That will have dropped even more after last night’s extraordinary 1-0 home defeat to 10-man Lecce, which saw Lazio crash out of the European qualification spots completely.

Lazio will not rebuild with Baroni

With a rebuild seemingly on the horizon, Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Baroni and Lazio see no future together, so will part company this summer.

The former Verona coach only took charge last summer after a similar breakdown in the rapport with Igor Tudor, who in turn had just replaced Maurizio Sarri in March 2024.

The season had started so well for Baroni, topping the Europa League table in the new format of the tournament, despite it being his first ever UEFA experience as a coach.

Their campaign fell apart in 2025, concluding with 27 victories, 13 draws and 12 defeats in all competition.

The Aquile have not won a single home match in Serie A for three months.
