Report – Liverpool Looking To Hijack Inter Milan Pursuit Of Parma Defender

Liverpool could reportedly try to overtake Inter Milan in the race to sign highly-rated Parma center-back Giovanni Leoni.

According to British newspaper The Times via FCInterNews, the Reds could hijack Inter’s long-term pursuit of the 18-year-old.

It’s no secret that the Nerazzurri view Giovanni Leoni as a concrete target despite the current lack of funds.

However, Cristian Chivu has requested the youngster’s signing, having previously worked with him at Ennio Tardini.

With Inter focusing on adding Ademola Lookman to Chivu’s attacking options, their pursuit of Leoni has taken a back seat.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have seemingly spotted a window of opportunity and are keen to take advantage.

Despite boasting a star-studded backline, the reigning Premier League holders are in the market for a new defender.

Indeed, Virgil van Dijk is entering the autumn of his playing career.

Therefore, Ibrahima Konate remains the only dependable center-back option for the future.

That rings particularly true when factoring in Jarell Quansah’s transfer to Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
