Marseille have reportedly identified Inter Milan’s Benjamin Pavard in the event they can’t sign Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez.
This according to French outlet L’Equipe, via FCInterNews. They report, however, that Pavard’s wages could prove to be a problem for the Ligue 1 club.
Ligue 1 giants Marseille are looking to sign a defender before the transfer window closes.
The player who the French side have really been targeting in recent days have been Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez.
However, it has proven difficult for Marseille to complete a deal for Ordonez.
Brugge are reluctant to sell the Ecuadorian. And furthermore, if they were to allow him to leave, it would only be for a high fee.
According to L’Equipe, therefore, Marseille are also considering the possibility of signing Inter defender Benjamin Pavard.
Reportedly, the 29-year-old is a player that the Nerazzurri have considered allowing to leave this summer.
However, selling Pavard with just a few days left to go in the window could be a tricky proposition for Inter.
According to L’Equipe, meanwhile, Pavard’s relatively high wages would be one significant obstacle for Marseille signing him.
