Report: Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar tests positive for COVID-19, out for opener

Paris Saint-Germain will be without one of their biggest stars for their season opener on Sept. 10 against Lens.

According to ESPN's Julien Laurens, Neymar has tested positive for the coronavirus after vacationing in Ibiza. He received the test results on Wednesday morning and is set to be retested.

Neymar is said to be in good health and is following protocols by quarantining for 14 days at his home in Bougival, which is in the eastern suburbs of Paris.

Not only will Neymar miss the season opener, but he'll also miss the Classique against Marseille on Sept. 13.

PSG teammate Angel Di Maria also is in isolation after testing positive for the coronavirus. The Argentinian vacationed with Neymar in Ibiza.

Midfielder Leandro Paredes, who also spent time with Di Maria in Ibiza, also has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-quarantining.

Neymar only is the latest high-profile player to test positive for the virus over the past few months. Manchester United's Paul Pogba, Juventus' Paulo Dybala and Blaise Matuidi also tested positive and recovered from the virus.

The Ligue 1 protocol for the coronavirus is very strict. If a club has four positive cases, their game is postponed.
