Although Daniele De Rossi remains the favourite, Parma have also reportedly started talks with Mark van Bommel to be their new coach.
The Ducali need a new tactician after firing Fabio Pecchia in February, then seeing Cristian Chivu poached by Inter at the end of the season.
De Rossi quickly emerged as the first choice, but there has still not been a total agreement between club and coach.
Now Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Parma have had initial contact with Van Bommel.
He had already been approached before they opted for Chivu in February.
The 48-year-old Dutchman had roles at PSV Eindhoven, Wolfsburg and most recently Royal Antwerp, which concluded in June 2024.
It was a successful stint in Antwerp, winning the League title, the Belgian Cup and the Supercup.
He has experience of Serie A as a player, where he wore the Milan jersey from January 2011 to June 2012, before seeing out his career at PSV Eindhoven.
