Report: Saudi club giving Cristiano Ronaldo major power in contract offer

The swarm of information surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo and a potential new contract with Saudi Arabian soccer club Al Nassr is ongoing. But new intel surfaced on Monday that shows just how much leverage the team is willing to give one of the most prolific forwards on the planet.

According to CBS Sports, Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr would give him authority in club decision-making, even as to who the head coach will be. Al Nassr has also reportedly designated an ambassador's role for Ronaldo for after the 37-year-old retires from playing.

There have been conflicting reports over the last couple of weeks regarding whether Ronaldo has already agreed to a deal with Al Nassr or not -- or whether he might be considering another club altogether. As of Monday the deal still has not been agreed upon, although it will reportedly be for two-and-a-half years and pay Ronaldo upwards of $200 million per season.

No deal is expected to be finalized until after Ronaldo and Portugal are done playing in the World Cup.

Ronaldo and Manchester United agreed to a mutual termination of his contract at the end of November, ending a very tumultuous union between the Portuguese superstar and the Premier League club. Less than a week before the World Cup got underway, Ronaldo sat down for a fiery interview with Piers Morgan where he bashed United for being out-of-date and revealed that he did not respect manager Erik ten Hag.

The veteran forward has scored one goal in three matches so far in the 2022 World Cup. Portugal is scheduled to play Switzerland in the Round of 16 on Tuesday.
