Tottenham are reportedly keeping tabs on potential goalkeeping options as Guglielmo Vicario continues to produce inconsistent displays.
The Italian has done well for Spurs overall, but he can be error-prone at times. That was evident against Leeds United recently when the Italian allowed Noah Okafor to get on the scoresheet.
Reports claim that Spurs are looking at potential options, but replacing Vicario is not an immediate priority for them. It remains to be seen whether the Italian can redeem himself in the coming weeks. He has been criticised previously for his inability to deal with aerial balls during set-pieces.
Recently, talkSPORT claimed that the player has been “found out” and he is not good enough to start every week.
Graeme Bailey told TBR Football: “Vicario has taken criticism from the fanbase, but it is not seen as an area of huge worry – that is not to say Spurs aren’t keeping abreast of goalkeeping options, but he really isn’t seen as a major weak link at this point. Like with every position, they will continue to assess, but it is not a concern for them.”
Vicario is at the peak of his career and he needs to cut out the mistakes from his game if he wants to play for a top team regularly. Spurs will be looking to fight for major trophies and they need a reliable keeper.
The Italian will need to raise his performance levels if he wants to remain the first-choice keeper at the club.
Meanwhile, Spurs had an impressive summer window and they have done well this season. They are third in the league table. They will look to stay there until the end of the season, and do well in the cup competitions as well.
