Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa.
They will face competition from Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City, as per TBR Football.
The 28-year-old is a reliable performer in the Premier League, and he could prove to be a useful addition for Spurs. However, it remains to be seen whether Spurs can accommodate him in the starting lineup.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are the first-choice defenders at the club, and Konsa might struggle to displace them in the starting lineup.
Graeme Bailey confirmed: “Ezri Konsa’s name is coming up quite a lot when you talk to clubs about potential defensive options.
“Clearly, Villa do not want to sell but he has just over two years left on his deal, he is now one of England’s top defenders, and Villa are likely going to have to tie him down to a new deal.
“Konsa is a nailed-on Premier League performer who is now showing it at international level. It is not a shock to me that some very big clubs are keeping an eye on him.”
Tottenham have a quality team, but there are weaknesses in the side. They should focus on improving their midfield and attack instead. They are well-stocked in the defence with Romero, Van de Ven, Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin.
Meanwhile, Konsa will want to compete at a high level regularly. Sitting on the bench at Spurs will not appeal to him. With other clubs keen on him, he will have plenty of options on the table. In addition to that, Villa will not want to lose him easily and any potential move could be difficult.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs follow up on their interest with an official approach.
