Report: Tottenham want 14-G/A playmaker hailed as 'fantastic' by Thomas Frank
News Images

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Brentford attacking midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard during the summer transfer window.

According to CaughtOffside, they are keen on the 24-year-old, and it will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done. He will cost around €40-50 million this summer. Tottenham certainly have the finances to get the deal done.

The Danish midfielder has shown his quality with Brentford, and he could be the ideal acquisition for Tottenham. He’s capable of operating as a central midfielder as well as an attacking midfielder. He will help create goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates and add some ingenuity to the Tottenham midfield.

Tottenham need more quality in the middle of the park, and the 24-year-old could be the ideal acquisition. The player scored three goals last season and picked up 11 assists. His numbers are likely to improve when he is playing in a better team alongside quality players.

The move to Tottenham could bring out the best in him. He is entering the peak years of his career, and this could be the right time for him to try out a new challenge. Tottenham have secured Champions League qualification for the next season, and they are likely to be an attractive destination for quality players.

Furthermore, they are expected to appoint Thomas Frank as their manager, and he could play a key role in getting the deal done. Frank did well to get the best out of Damsgaard at Brentford, and the player could look to reunite with his manager at the North London club.

Orioles, Blue Jays pull off unique trade midway through doubleheader

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired one of baseball's premier relievers to bolster their bullpen. In a trade with the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto is adding Seranthony Dominguez to its pitching staff, according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. While the move solidifies the Blue Jays' status as buyers, it's the timing of the transaction that stands out. The Orioles finished a 16-4 walloping of the Blue Jays just hours before the deal went down, and while it's not unheard of to see a player traded to a franchise his former team is visiting, the fact that the two teams will face off again Tuesday night at 6:35 PM EST makes this a truly unique swap. Dominguez may not suit up in his first official contest as a Blue Jay, but he will be switching clubhouses before the second half of the team's doubleheader. It won't take long for the veteran reliever to make an impact, either, as bullpen production has stood out for a Toronto team that has been dominating in most aspects of the game. In 43 appearances with the Orioles this season, Dominguez has posted a respectable 3.24 ERA over 41.2 innings. He hasn't quite returned to the impressive form he was in with the Phillies from 2018 to 2022, but the value is obvious for a team hoping to capture its third World Series in franchise history. The rebuilding Orioles acquired right-handed pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown, who was ranked as Toronto's 10th-best prospect in the latest MLB Pipeline team Top 30 Prospects list. The 23-year-old has gone 2-5 over 19 starts across High-A and Double-A this year, posting a combined 3.54 ERA while striking out 115 over 89 innings. As two teams heading in vastly different directions this season, it's a sensible move for both sides. Dominguez is an unrestricted free agent after this season, making him a rental for Toronto down the stretch. If Watts-Brown continues to show promise, though, the trade could ultimately be deemed a win for Baltimore.

Maple Leafs Top Prospect Shatters Expectations at World Junior Showcase

The World Junior Summer Showcase is in full swing, and Maple Leafs top prospect Ben Danford is shattering expectations, truly proving how good of a player he can be. The Toronto Maple Leafs' defensive prospect, Ben Danford, is among the 44 players who were invited to Hockey Canada's World Juniors Summer Showcase. Hockey Canada finally unveiled the 44 prospects who will head to Minnesota for the showcase, after they held the roster release back while the organization dealt with several injuries, which begins Sunday and runs through August 2 in Minneapolis. Defensive prospect Ben Danford is the only Maple Leafs player invited to the annual showcase, where Canada's World Junior staff will get their first look at what their team might look like for the 2026 World Juniors, which will also take place in Minnesota in December. Danford is being called the best player at the World Juniors Summer Showcase Danford has been exceeding expectations, and one source revealed that he has been the best player at the World Junior Showcase so far. The source said Danford is steady, smart, and hard to ignore on the ice. 'Ben Danford has been the best player at the World Junior Showcase he's steady, smart, and impossible to ignore. Makes every shift count, whether he's breaking up plays or starting the rush. Canada's blue line is in good hands.' - An unnamed source The Maple Leafs selected Danford with their first pick (31st overall) at the 2024 NHL Draft. During his visit to Toronto's development camp earlier this month, the defender revealed that he's receiving mentorship from current Leafs defensemen as well as some alumni like Mark Giordano. The 6-foot-2 Danford could make for an excellent fit for Canada should he make the team. He is responsible in his own end, and he demonstrated leadership capabilities when he was named captain of the Oshawa Generals ahead of the 2024-25 OHL season.

NFL insider shares worrisome update on Micah Parsons' contract dispute with Cowboys

With a new NFL season comes another contract dispute between Jerry Jones and one of the Dallas Cowboys' star players. In 2019, it was running back Ezekiel Elliott. Then there was quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in 2024, and now it's defensive end Micah Parsons in 2025. Those first three all got their wish and received massive paydays without missing any game action, which has many believing that the same movie will play out with Parsons. However, in the moment, Parsons and the Cowboys don't seem to be aligned in their thinking, and that has only been magnified by ESPN insider Adam Schefter's latest update on the situation. "I would say right now we're nowhere on that deal. I would say right now we are further away from a deal in late July/early August than we were in late March/early April. The two sides have gone backwards, not forwards. I don't think they're speaking very much these days, if at all," Schefter said. "This sounds different to me. This sounds a little bit more personal from both sides. It sounds like Dallas is upset with the fact that it felt like it was getting closer to a deal, and then that deal went sideways. And I think Micah Parsons feels like this deal should've been done. I don't think Micah is real happy with them; I don't think they're real happy with him. I don't think anybody is real happy with anybody. And I don't think there's a deal that's being discussed right now, not to mention being close," Schefter added. Certainly not the update Cowboys fans were hoping to hear on Tuesday afternoon. As we know, Parsons is entering the final season of his rookie contract on a fifth-year player option, which Dallas exercised in April of 2024. The superstar pass rusher is set to earn just over $24 million in 2025-26. The 26-year-old has been participating in Cowboys training camp, though he has voiced his displeasure with the current state of contract negotiations both in interviews and on social media. Parsons is one of, if not the best, pass rushers in football, having racked up 12-plus sacks in all four seasons to begin his NFL career. His combination of strength, speed and pure athleticism is a nightmare for opposing offenses, and you can understand why he wants to be paid for it. There's no doubt that the recent deals signed by defensive end Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns and outside linebacker T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers added fuel to the fire for Parsons. Garrett and Watt will both make over $40 million per season moving forward while already being 30 and 31 years old, respectively. Expectations should remain that Jerry Jones will eventually pony up and pay his franchise player, but reports like these definitely don't help anyone in this situation.

Steelers' Mike Tomlin Gives Insight To A Potentially Massive Upgrade Going Into 2025

The Pittsburgh Steelers are entering the 2025 NFL season with a lot of change happening within the roster. The quarterback position has been turned over for the second season in a row, and there are going to be a lot of new faces contributing on the defense. New weapons are also sprinkled in everywhere on offense, which will be an interesting storyline to follow as the season goes along. However, the third phase of the game, special teams, will also see some changes. This is especially true after the release of Cordarrelle Patterson on Monday. Patterson was signed to a two-year deal prior to the 2024 season, and he was the team's primary kick returner. He is widely considered one of the best to ever do it, but he seemed to have lost a step during his time in Pittsburgh as he dealt with some nagging injuries. Pittsburgh had one of the worst kickoff return units in the league, and it is a part of the game that must be upgraded if the Steelers want to avoid giving the offense bad field position. Head Coach Mike Tomlin spoke to the media after practice on Tuesday, and he shared what the team is thinking when it comes to who will be returning kicks. Throughout the rest of training camp, fans will see Kenneth Gainwell, Jaylen Warren, Kaleb Johnson, and Roman Wilson returning kicks. The primary kick returner for the 2025 season will likely come from this pool of candidates, and Tomlin especially spoke highly of Gainwell. The back returned kicks for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, and he averaged over 25 yards per return, which is something Pittsburgh is looking for. Gainwell is a promising returner, and Warren has returned some kicks in Pittsburgh in the past. He returned nine kicks during the 2024 season and also averaged over 25 yards per return. There is a good chance the two running backs will be back in the end zone on most returns. Johnson could also be sprinkled in, and it will just depend on either player's usage in the game and availability based on health. Warren has been banged up in the past, and the organization might want to save his services for when Pittsburgh is on offense. Wilson is another player that would intriguing to see return kicks, but he is also coming off of a season where he was riddled with injuries. He is a young player, so he will have to prove himself on special teams, but it might be more so in a gunner role on punt. He should be featured in the offense a decent amount, barring any additions at wide receiver. Steelers Looking To Avoid Slow Starts On Offense In 2025 Pittsburgh has been plagued by slow starts on offense over the last couple of seasons, and a successful return game could help mitigate that issue. The punt return game has improved over the last year or so with Calvin Austin III returning punts, and the hope is that the Steelers see a similar upgrade on kickoff return. Gainwell's experience and success returning kicks, with Warren also being back there, should give fans some optimism that the offense will be set up for success at the beginning of games. Football is often a game of winning the field position battle, and that comes down to special teams and the offense getting first downs. The offense should be expected to look a little rugged at the start of the season as most units struggle to gel to begin the campaign. If Pittsburgh can come out firing on special teams, the team should see more success early on.
