Reports in Argentina claim that Udinese reached a verbal agreement to sell Lautaro Giannetti to Trabzonspor, as talks with Monza broke down.

The veteran defender is 31 years old and spent his entire career at Velez Sarsfield until the surprising move to Udinese as a free agent in January 2024.

Giannetti made little impact at Udinese

Even though he has a great deal of experience, including three senior caps for Argentina, he struggled to make an impact with the Friulani.

He managed only 23 competitive appearances for the Friulani in 18 months, with just 19 of those from the starting XI.

Giannetti was curiously more effective going forward, scoring two Serie A goals against Juventus and Bologna in 2024.

There had been negotiations for a move to Monza, but Argentine transfer expert Cesar Luis Merlo claims that Udinese have instead reached a verbal agreement with Trabzonspor for the sale of the centre-back.

His contract with Udinese was only due to run until June 2026.
