Report: United crowned FA Cup champions for 13th time after stellar display vs rivals City

Manchester United overturned Manchester City 2-1 to reign victorious in the FA Cup final.

Two first-half goals, which came just nine minutes apart, from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were enough to edge past the previous holders of the cup and have United’s name etched on the trophy for the first time since 2016.

It was a well-drilled, disciplined set-up from the Red Devils, with City looking a shadow of the side that we’ve seen all season and in last year’s final between the two cross-city rivals.

European qualification secured

Amidst the elation of the United faithful, it’s worth noting that today’s triumph also books the side into next term’s Europa League group stages, ensuring European football will be played at Old Trafford in 2024/2025.

Mainoo was, unsurprisingly, named Player of the Match, but numerous players were in contention, as all did their bit to make sure they made it over the line.
