Jamie Vardy is now more enthusiastic about the idea of coming to Serie A for Cremonese as a free agent, claim Sky Sport Italia.
The veteran striker is out of contract after his deal with Leicester City was allowed to run down.
It was a big surprise when the report emerged earlier this week that Vardy had been approached by newly promoted Cremonese.
Now Sky Sport Italia insist the negotiations have been going on intensively for a couple of days, reaching an important breakthrough.
The 38-year-old is very open to the idea of coming to Italy to see out his career, which peaked with the Premier League triumph under coach Claudio Ranieri.
It would be a big change of scenery for him, who had been at Leicester City since 2012.
Vardy scored 145 Premier League goals in 342 appearances, along with 50 assists.
Cremonese started their Serie A season with a remarkable 2-1 win away to Luka Modric’s AC Milan at San Siro last weekend.
