Villarreal decided against purchasing Inter Milan loanee Tajon Buchanan after his loan deal expired at the start of this month.
Per Tuttosport via FCInterNews, there’s still a chance for the Canadian wingback to return to La Ceramica.
Tajon Buchanan joined the Yellow Submarine on a six-month loan in January.
Furthermore, Villarreal paid Inter €1 million to borrow the 26-year-old and included a buyout clause in the region of €13m.
However, after careful examination, they decided not to take it.
Though the price wasn’t high, Villarreal won’t turn Buchanan’s transfer permanent under current terms.
Instead, they hope to get a discount from Inter.
Buchanan made 13 La Liga appearances for the Castellon outfit, netting one goal and providing two assists.
However, he only registered four league starts, failing to secure a regular starting berth under Marcelino Garcia Toral.
Therefore, Villarreal will only sign the ex-Club Brugge star on favorable terms.
As for Buchanan, his chances of breaking into Cristian Chivu’s set-up look bleak.
With the arrival of Luis Henrique, it’s hard to imagine Buchanan launching his career at the San Siro now.
